Agency: Studio Hansa
Role: Creative Lead
▉ Brief
Create a suite of Hundarian TV idents which clearly differentiate each channel, but keeps the brand recognisable as a whole.
▉ Creative Process
Broadcast multiple times throughout the day, each ident had to stand up to repeat viewing. From this, I directed them under the idea that there's always a story to follow in the world of Network 4. The suite was crafted with details that linked idents to one another, scenes incorporated mini narratives, plus novel easter eggs for keen-eyed viewers.
Covering 7 channels, we needed to identify the kinds of content idents would feature; whether that is signalling broad genres or playing to recognisable hero shows without copyright issues. We were then trusted to curate them into distinctive brand worlds.
Following the same edit structure gave a fun challenge to how these worlds might be populated in familiar or unexpected ways. Mixing scale, colour and texture to create dreamlike states, I directed them to capture the same sense of wonder you feel when immersed in a new favourite show. These played with looser interpretations of the 4, to be more intriguing as viewers were already used to seeing an older interpretation of this ident structure.
▉ Result
Appreciating our quality and attention to detail, the suite of idents were extremely well received by key figures of Network4.  Increasing brand perception with audiences, the strengthened relationship ultimately earned new brand and motion projects.
These minature worlds were each designed around the channel's content, not only to immersing you, but show there is always a story to follow.
Scale played a big part of curating these worlds, allowing a natural hierarchy between diverse scenes and evoking a sense of wonder in what you can watch.
Broadcast multuple times a day, layers of visual detail ensured there's always something new to see. These include easter eggs like the detective mystery channel's pub sign being a hound and called "the lead".
Storyboards often included aspects which needed R&D; presenting new techniques for the team to up-skill on, and discover further opportunities to improve the suite.
Put simply,
I want to do great work, for and with, great people.
